Learn the basics of DJ gear, software, and controller setup with an intro to track mixing.

DJ Setup & Getting Started
Students get hands-on with DJ equipment, from controllers and software to speakers and headphones. Using the DJAY app or other platforms, they explore mixing tracks and key features of DJ gear. A DJ Spotlight on A-Trak introduces students to the real-world possibilities of DJing. By the end of the session, students will be comfortable navigating their setup and performing basic mixes.

Beatmatching Basics
Master the fundamentals of tempo, rhythm, and cueing through beatmatching exercises.

Beatmatching Basics
Focusing on synchronising tracks, this session introduces beatmatching with identical BPMs. Students analyze kick, snare, and hi-hat elements, explore timbre, and create their own cue points. A DJ Spotlight on Diamond Kuts provides insight into professional beatmatching techniques. This session lays the rhythmic foundation for more advanced mixing.

Song Structure & Advanced Beatmatching
Understand song structure and how to transition smoothly between tracks with varying BPMs.

Students develop deeper DJ skills by exploring how knowledge of song structure helps with creative transitions. They learn to beatmatch tracks with different tempos and anticipate musical changes. A DJ Spotlight on DJ Shortkut shares expert methods for smooth mixes. Students leave the session equipped to build cohesive and dynamic DJ sets.
