Students get hands-on with DJ equipment, from controllers and software to speakers and headphones. Using the DJAY app or other platforms, they explore mixing tracks and key features of DJ gear. A DJ Spotlight on A-Trak introduces students to the real-world possibilities of DJing. By the end of the session, students will be comfortable navigating their setup and performing basic mixes.

Focusing on synchronising tracks, this session introduces beatmatching with identical BPMs. Students analyze kick, snare, and hi-hat elements, explore timbre, and create their own cue points. A DJ Spotlight on Diamond Kuts provides insight into professional beatmatching techniques. This session lays the rhythmic foundation for more advanced mixing.

Understand song structure and how to transition smoothly between tracks with varying BPMs.
